Inter do not have much to play for this season until the Europa League returns as the Champions League spot is secured.

The hunger and positive attitude was nice to see, especially at the start. In the first half, especially, Inter steam rolled a Fiorentina team that stood deep in their half and invited pressure onto them.

However, the chances came and went as Lukaku was denied twice by another inspired opposing keeper and the post.

Samir Handanovic – 6.5: We barely saw Samir in the first half. Just a tame effort from Ribery. A magnificent save off Lirola’s knees was the best moment of his night. Stable.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6: Started very well defensively and did a great job on Ribery in the first half. Attacking play was nothing special, just the usual D’Ambrosio game.

Stefan De Vrij – 6: An awkward landing that will have Inter worrying for their Europa League prospects. Until that moment he controlled the backline professionally.

Diego Godin – 6.5: Diego finally looks confident and at home. Fiorentina did not attack his side of defense much. One major mistake that he needs to thank Samir for.

Antonio Candreva – 5.5 : Right from the start it was clear that Candreva will struggle in attack tonight. Crosses never looked dangerous. Kept hitting the defenders all night.

Nicolo Barella – 5.5 : Too much quantity and too little quality in the first half. His movement is very under-rated, the exchange of position with Eriksen worked very well.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5.5: The only player to play every game since the restart. Ran a lot, did not have much to do defensively. Attacking play left a lot to be desired as usual.

Ashley Young – 6: Managed to create a couple of decent chances from awkward Candreva crosses. His flank was quiet and under Inter’s control for most of the game.

Christian Eriksen – 6: Much improved Eriksen. This is the kind of performance that Conte is looking for. Always looked dangerous on the ball and made the right decisions.

Romelu Lukaku – 5.5: On another night, Lukaku would have had a first half hat-trick. Unlucky when he hit the cross bar but should be scoring the other 2 chances for fun.

Alexis Sanchez – 5: Milinkovic did a job on Sanchez and kept him away from any dangerous areas. Did not manage to have any impact at all before/after hitting the post.

Andrea Ranocchia – 6.5 : Did not have much time to warm up and come on. One mistake on the set piece but had a stable game overall. Looks refreshed playing for Conte. Inter’s best player on the night.

Lautaro Martinez – 5.5: Had 20 minutes to provide some impact off the bench and try to become the first choice again. Completely out of form and frustrating to watch. Poor.

Victor Moses – 6: Victor always provides something off the bench. Ran at Fiorentina’s defense to create chances to cross the ball, but the attackers fluffed everything.

Alessandro Bastoni – 5.5: Bastoni did not look comfortable playing so high up the pitch as Inter chased the points. Did not have much work to do defensively in his 20 minutes.

Marcelo Brozovic – 5.5: Brought on to replace the tired and much maligned Gagliardini. Moved around the pitch well, but never got to make a telling pass to open the game.

Antonio Conte – 6.5: The first half went according to plan apart from getting the goal. The second half showed where the team must grow during the off season

Piero Giacomelli – 6.5: Did not notice the referee at all. Maybe a soft free kick here or there but nothing to really complain about tonight. Kept the game under control. Fair

Inter – 5.5: The positive outlook and attitude was nice to see. There were 15-20 mins where Inter looked dull, but it is not easy playing every 72 hours. Clean sheet.
