AC Milan club president Paolo Scaroni has shared his belief that both the Milan city council and opposition are satisfied with Inter and their plans to build a new state of the art stadium.

The two clubs currently share San Siro and have done since the end of the second world war and are working together on a new stadium project which will also see the surrounding area completely renovated.

There are currently two companies bidding for the rights to build the stadium and a recent report in the Italian media has suggested that the two clubs will make a decision on the winner by the end of the Summer.

The clubs are expected to spend in excess of €1 billion on the new stadium project, which will be completed in the coming years.

“Today we get about €32/33 million in stadium revenue, the clubs with whom we want to compete however, make more than €100 million” he explained in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Il Giorno, which appeared in yesterday’s print edition.

“It is clear that there is an important gap that we want to reduce as soon as possible. It seems to me that the city council are satisfied from the point they forced us into and it seems to me that the opposition seem to be pretty much in agreement too with that.”

He concluded: “It should not be forgotten that it is compulsory for it to pass through the city council in an era of elections.”
