Stefan de Vrij will miss Inter’s Serie A match away to Genoa tomorrow due to injury according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The Dutchman suffered a knee sprain in Inter’s goalless draw at home to Fiorentina on Wednesday night and the report goes on to explain that although it is nothing serious, Inter manager Antonio Conte may not play de Vrij in the remaining three Serie A matches.
The reason for this is because Conte is thinking about Inter’s upcoming Europa League clash with Getafe and by not playing de Vrij in the remainder of the league campaign, the former Lazio player could focus all his energy on the match against the Spanish side.
The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to explain that if Conte does indeed decide to not use de Vrij, Andrea Ranocchia could see more usage.
