Whilst Inter and Barcelona captain Lionel Messi’s entourage have both denied recent reports in the media, a move to Inter cannot be excluded according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Il Giorno.

Reports have emerged in the media that Messi’s father, Jorge, is moving to Milan in order to negotiate his son’s transfer to Inter.

Despite the denials, the report from Il Girono goes on to explain that Barcelona’s current financial difficulties and the team’s performances this season could lead to a sensational change of course at the Blaugrana and help Inter to sign the multi-time world player of the year.

Inter also have a real desire to close the gap with arch rivals Juventus not only on the pitch but off it too when it comes to things like merchandise. Signing Messi would undoubtedly see merchandise sales sky rocket as Messi fans around the globe snap up Inter merchandise with his name on it.

Finally, the Italian tax laws which concerns workers coming from abroad also creates a favourable premise. The tax laws mean that Inter will make a significant saving on Messi’s annual pay packet.
