Inter defender Stefan de Vrij joined the Nerazzurri squad for their away clash against Genoa this evening, despite suffering from a knee sprain, according to photos published by the Nerazzurri via their official Twitter page.

The 28-year-old Dutchman suffered a knee injury 23 minutes into the Nerazzurri’s league clash against Fiorentina earlier this week and was diagnosed with a knee sprain.

Despite the injury, the player has travelled with the rest of the squad to Genoa today, taking a passive role alongside his teammates, providing morale support instead.

De Vrij has impressed this season under coach Antonio Conte, the report continues, and is a sure part of the squad’s defense for next season as well.

The 28-year-old has made 40 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 3366 minutes. In that time, the Dutchman has scored four goals and provided four assists, helping the squad keep ten clean sheets.
