Inter linked Edinson Cavani’s move to Portuguese side Benfica is off due to the Uruguayan’s excessive wage demands, according to a report from Portuguese media outlet A Bola recently.
The report details how the 33-year-old Uruguayan striker, who is currently a free agent after his contract expired with Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last month, was in talks with Benfica over a possible move, but the Portuguese club decided to end negotiations early due to his high wage demands.
Other clubs are interested in signing him, including Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Leeds and Inter, as reported by Spanish media outlet Marca.
Cavani turned down a short-term contract extension from PSG, who wanted to keep him until the end of the season, as he wanted to work on finding a new club. The player wants wages in excess of €10 million a season, and so far, no club has complied with his demands.
