Inter legend Beppe Bergomi discussed the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over Genoa last night, as well as the performances of Alexis Sanchez and the squad overall in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia after the game.

“The starting duo remains Lukaku and Lautaro, Sanchez for what he earns could be a luxury for the attack. Now he’s fine, he’s entered with the right head and has done well with what was asked of him.”

Bergomi then touched on the Nerazzurri’s Europa League campaign and the final games of the season against Napoli and Atalanta.

“Inter can win this season’s Europa League, but it’s hard to say what will happen. They’re all single leg ties and the best team doesn’t always win. They’ll still get there well, but they want to come second in the league first.”

The Nerazzurri are now second in the league table after 36 games, sitting one point ahead of third place Atalanta and four points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus, who could secure the Scudetto with a win over struggling Sampdoria this evening.

Antonio Conte’s squad are looking to win their final two games of the Serie A season against Napoli and Atalanta in order to secure a second place finish, which could have financial ramifications of around €15 million when compared to a fourth place finish. Inter will then face Getafe in the Europa League on the 5th August.
