Barcelona star Lionel Messi will not be joining Inter this summer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report details how Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte both shut down the rumours that the club were looking to sign Messi last night, in interviews before and after the Milanese club’s 3-0 win over Genoa last night.
Despite the fact that Messi’s father purchased a house in Milan close to Inter’s headquarters, the move is simply for economic and business reasons.
The 33-year-old Argentine star also doesn’t want to leave Barcelona, the report continues, despite tensions between him and the club’s management.
Messi also earns around €50 million net per season, a figure far too high for the Nerazzurri, even if the player dropped his requests to €40 million net per season. The Growth Decree would help, but not enough for the Milanese club.
