A report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport has suggested that Inter wouldn’t be able to afford signing Barcelona star Lionel Messi next summer, even on a free transfer.
The report details how the 33-year-old Argentine star’s contract expires with Barcelona at the end of next season, with the player unhappy at the club’s management.
Despite this, it is unlikely that Messi will join the Nerazzurri on a free transfer next summer, even if his father bought a house in Milan, because of the incredible wages he demands.
Messi earns around €50 million a season, the report continues, and even with the Growth Decree the Nerazzurri would still struggle to pay such high wages, even if he agreed to drop it by €10 million a season.
More proof of Inter’s inability to afford this is the fact that a bond was issued worth €75 million, to solve the current liquidity crisis currently plaguing the club, the report concludes.
