If Inter are unable to sign Chelsea full back Emerson Palmieri, coach Antonio Conte has identified Barcelona’s Junior Firpo as his preferred alternative, according to a report from Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

The report details how the Nerazzurri have been linked with the 23-year-old Spanish full back, who is contracted to the Blaugrana until 2024, for some time now as part of a possible deal for Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, who is heavily wanted by the Catalan club.

Inter are looking to sign a new left wing back this summer, with other options being Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso and Atalanta’s Robin Gosens.

Barcelona had been in talks to sign Lautaro for some time now, the report continues, offering the Nerazzurri €70 million in cash alongside Firpo, who was valued at €41 million.

Talks could resume should the Milanese club fail to secure the signature of the 25-year-old Italian Brazilian Emerson, who is clearly transfer listed after being frozen out of the Blues squad.
