Barcelona have not abandoned their pursuit of Lautaro Martinez despite the fact that him staying at Inter appears more probable according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The La Liga powerhouses have been courting the highly rated 22-year-old for a considerable amount of time and although negotiations are currently at a dead end between the two clubs, nothing can be ruled out.
Should Lautaro stay with the club, something Inter manager Antonio Conte is hopeful of, given how hard it will be to find a replacement, Inter will offer him a new and improved contract to the one he is currently on, which expires in 2023.
The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to explain that whilst Inter cannot offer him the same terms Barcelona have, they can still offer him important figures. Negotiations over a new deal are likely to commence once Inter’s Europa League campaign ends.
