Barcelona are slowing down in their pursuit of Lautaro Martinez according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Blaugrana club have been courting the Argentine national team player for some time but with negotiations at a dead end, this could well help Inter in their bid to tie the 22-year-old down to a new deal, which could further deter interest.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has promised a 5 year contract renewal to the former Racing Club player at the end of this season, which will see his annual pay packet rise to €5.5 million.

The report goes on to explain that Lautaro could be convinced to put pen to paper on fresh terms with the club due to the fact the club have never stopped believing in him, even since the season resumed, where he has struggled to perform to the same level as he did earlier on in the season.
