Inter have withdrawn themselves from the race to sign striker Edinson Cavani according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The experienced Uruguayan national team forward became a free agent at the start of this month after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired and it was widely reported that Inter were taking a look at him but as per this report, they are no longer chasing him.

Inter are not the only club to have pulled out of the race either with the report explaining that Argentine giants Boca Juniors have too with them unable to afford Cavani’s wages.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that Bayern Munich have sparked an interest in signing him whilst Benfica also remain interested in adding him to their ranks.

This past season the 33-year-old made 22 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he scored seven goals and provided three assists for his teammates.
