The number of clubs courting Jan Vertonghen is continung to grow according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Il Messaggero.

The Belgian national team centre back recently became a free agent after his contract with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur expired following the conclusion of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

The former Ajax player has drawn links to Inter, Roma and Fiorentina in recent weeks and months and this report states that Atletico Madrid and Wolverhampton Wanderers have joined the race to sign him.

Vertonghen spent the last eight years of his career in north London with Spurs and certainly has no shortage of options when it comes to finding himself a new club.

This past season the 33-year-old made 30 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just over 2200 minutes, Vertonghen has scored two goals and provided a single assist.
