David Alaba is ready to put an end to his long spell with Bayern Munich according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Austrian national team defender has just under a year left to run on his contract with the club and he appears set to depart for pastures new.

Alaba likes the idea of a move to Premier League club Manchester City, where he could work under Pep Guardiola, who is prepared to play him in central defence, as Alaba would like opposed to being played at full back, where he has played the majority of his career.

Alaba has also drawn links to La Liga powerhouses Barcelona and the report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to state that everything suggests that the 28-year-old will not move to Italy, where Inter are interested.

This season Alaba scored two goals and provided as many assists in 38 appearances across all competitions to date.
