AC Milan are interested in signing Fiorentina talisman Federico Chiesa, with coach Stefano Pioli specifically requesting the player, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the Rossoneri offered the 54-year-old Pioli a two-year contract extension, showing their confidence in the former Fiorentina coach.

Pioli has since specifically requested the club to sign the 22-year-old Chiesa, who is contracted to Fiorentina until 2022. The AC Milan coach previously worked with Italian in Florence and knows him well.

AC Milan will not be able to sign the player easily, the report continues, considering their competition. Juventus are heavily linked with the 22-year-old Italian forward and seem to be the favourites to secure his signature, although Inter haven’t given up hope.

Chiesa has made 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2730 minutes. In that time, he has scored 11 goals and provided seven assists.
