Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni discussed the Nerazzurri’s season so far, a second-place finish and their opponents Atalanta in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV before the game.

“We’ve certainly had a great season, we’ve worked hard, so we deserve this second place and we’ll go on the pitch concentrated.”

The 21-year-old Italian defender then touched on the Nerazzurri’s opponents this evening, Atalanta, and their qualities.

“They have the best attack, but in the first meeting this season they had a hard time scoring and so we hope to keep a clean sheet. On a personal level, I’m very happy. Now we hope to finish the season in second place.”

Bastoni also discussed tonight’s clash against the Bergamo based club in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN before the game.

“Atalanta has been a strong team for three to four years now, it’s obvious that there are strong players like Papu Gomez in the team. I’ve played there, I know his strengths and I’ll try to stop him.”

Bastoni has made 28 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2129 minutes. In that time, he has scored two goals and helped the Milanese club keep six clean sheets.

The 21-year-old Italian was integrated into the first team squad by coach Antonio Conte this season and has impressed when giving the chance, often starting ahead of veteran Diego Godin.

Inter are currently second in the league table after 37 games, sitting on 79 points, one point ahead of third place Atalanta. The winner of today’s game is set to finish second, although a draw would also be enough for the Milanese club to finish second should Lazio fail to beat Napoli this evening.
