Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella discussed the Nerazzurri’s impressive 2-0 win over Atalanta earlier tonight and their season overall in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game.

“Great performance by the whole team and also by the individuals. The coach prepared the game very well, we interpreted it as we had to and we deserved to win.”

He spoke about his feelings after his first year at Inter. The 23-year-old Italian midfielder joined the club from Caligari last summer.

“I won’t give a review, you will. A positive season, great season, we all grew so much. Conte instilled a winning mentality in us. I gave everything I had, I’m happy.”

Finally, Barella touched on the Europa League and the Nerazzurri’s approach to the competition. The Milanese club will face Spanish side Getafe next week in a neutral venue in Germany in a single legged clash.

“We’ve shown we can play against everyone, even in the Champions League. Now we’re going to take the field to win, we’re Inter, a club that’s used to winning and a coach that’s used to winning too.”

Barella, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, has made 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2635 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided seven assists, being a core part of coach Antonio Conte’s squads due to his high work rate and calmness on the ball.

The player missed multiple games through injury this season, first suffering from a knee injury at the end of 2019 before suffering from a hamstring injury after the restart of the season.
