Legendary former Inter captain Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has revealed what he thinks was behind Inter manager Antonio Conte’s latest public outburst.
After Inter’s 2-0 win over Atalanta on the final day of the Serie A season at the weekend, Conte chose to add to his list of public outbursts and opted to attack Inter management over the lack of protection offered when it comes to the club being attacked in the media.
“Basically, Inter are a team that is attacked easily in the media. Conte wanted protection from club executives, he wanted to flush out certain executives,” Bergomi explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.
“Either because he doesn’t want them anymore or because he wants them to grow and he wants to save the team for the Europa League.”
Conte was appointed as Inter manager in the Summer of 2019 on a three year contract. In his first season in charge, which still has a little bit left, he has managed Inter in 49 games across all competitions to date, of which he has won 29.
Following his most recent outburst, speculation in the media has been rife with regard to what this could mean for his future. Some reports have suggested that Inter and Conte going their separate ways is the most likely scenario.
