Former Inter striker Aldo Serena discussed Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte’s outburst to the media yesterday after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over Atalanta in a post on his Twitter page yesterday.

The 51-year-old Italian coach guided Inter to a second-place finish in the league in his first campaign in charge, sitting on 82 points, one point behind rivals and winners Juventus.

Rather than seeming pleased at the result, Conte was unhappy in post-match interviews and discussed how the club failed to protect him or the squad when they were being criticised in the media during tough parts of the season.

The Nerazzurri’s next game is against Spanish side Getafe next week on Wednesday in the Europa League, in a single legged game that will be played at a neutral venue in Germany. Conte will be looking to win the competition to secure a trophy in his first season in charge.

Serena discussed the outburst on Twitter, saying: “I have the feeling (but maybe I could be wrong) that the things asked for here are about reinforcements. Conte wants a free hand and the players he’s asked for. Not ideas like with Eriksen, because the next signing could be Messi and he wants players to do what he says.”
