Inter and manager Antonio Conte have never been as far apart as they currently are following his most recent public outburst according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, which was aired a short time ago.
Unless there are some surprising developments today, it is difficult to think of a the relationship being healed, the report continues, adding Conte’s recent outburst was a real attack as the former Italian national team manager wishes to bypass all management at the club, even including chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta, who played a big role in getting him to the club.
Conte wants the management to be stronger off of the pitch and not let news such as him being sent a bullet in the post make it out into the media.
Conte also wants a market where they work together where players such as Christian Eriksen, who are not functional to his team, are not brought in.
The report goes on to explain that given the tensions, the way forward would appear to be a consensual termination with a golden handshake handing him a year’s salary as Inter president Steven Zhang does not wish to change everything for Conte. Paying €60 million to sack him can be practically excluded.
Former Juventus manager Max Allegri is Marotta’s current favourite to replace Conte if Conte leaves and the report concludes that not even winning the Europa League may be enough to mend the relationship between Inter and Conte.
