The 2020/21 Srie A season will commence in mid-September according to a report from Italian news agency ANSA.it.
The Lega Serie A council met earlier on today to hold discussions over the upcoming season and decided on Saturday 19 September as the start date for the new campaign.
Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport have meanwhile stated that the final day of the season will meanwhile be Monday May 3 and they also state that there has been a change to the Christmas break. The moving forward of the start of league affects the Christmas break, where matches are scheduled to be played January 3rd.
Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the 2019/20 Serie A season only finished this past weekend. The season had to be halted for several months due to the pandemic but got back underway in June and teams played out their remaining fixtures.
Inter finished the 2019/20 Serie A campaign in second place, one point off of champions Juventus and the Nerazzurri club will undoubtedly hope to go one better and win the title next term for the first time since 2010.
