Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has shared that he hopes to see the recent tensions between Inter and manager Antonio Conte resolved as he believes that Inter are the only side currently capable of dethroning Juventus.

Following Inter’s 2-0 win over Gasperini’s side this past weekend, Conte added to his list of public outbursts with his post-match comments.

Some reports in the media have went so far as to suggest that Inter and Conte could go their separate ways following the most recent outburst in which Conte accused the club of not protecting him and the club enough in the media.

“I don’t know what happened, I have followed the story a bit and it’s difficult to judge from the outside,” Gasperini remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai earlier on yesterday.

Former Inter boss Gasperini, who led Atalanta to a third place finish for the second consecutive season this season, then went on to add:  “I think he has done a great job. At the end of the season all our energy levels are a bit empty.”

“I hope the relationship can be patched together because I think Inter are the only team that can remove Juventus from the throne and the Conte-Inter partnership is the most accredited.”

Since Conte took charge of Inter this past Summer on a three year contract, he has managed the Nerazzurri in 49 matches across all competitions to date, of which he has won 29, drawn 12 and lost eight.
