Inter club captain and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has shared his belief that he and his teammates will be in for a difficult game against Getafe in the Europa League tomorrow night.

“We arrive at this game during a positive moment both in terms of a physical and psychological point of view. Getafe have rested and have 12 days to prepare for the game,” the former Udinese player explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, earlier this evening.

“They have been a surprise for two years in La Liga, I think they are like Diego Simeone’s first Atletico Madrid side. They are a tough team, they know what they want and how to get there. It will not be a simple game, we will have to prepare well and do what we know.”

He was then asked if playing behind closed doors favours the strong teams or not.

“In theory but then there is putting it into practice. Football is not like math. There are many variations, lately we have been playing like this and we are both used to it. We all start from scratch.”

Handanovic then spoke on Inter managing to have the best defensive record during the 2019/20 Serie A season and admitted that whilst nice to get this, the team want something greater than that.

“The team, Inter 2019/20, has won this. The prize goes to everyone, the goalkeeper depends on those who are in front of him. It’s a good prize, but we want something more.”

The veteran Slovenian shot-stopper, who has been with Inter since 2012 and is under contract until the end of the upcoming season, has been virtually ever present for Inter this term with him having appeared in 44 of the Nerazzurri’s 49 matches across all competitions to date, in which he has managed to keep 14 clean sheets.
