Max Allegri is in pole position to replace Antonio Conte if he leaves Inter according to a report in today’s print edition o Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Following his latest in a long line of public outbursts after this weekend’s 2-0 win over Atalanta in the 2019/20 Serie A season finale, Conte now finds himself in an uncomfortable position.

The club have already looked into whether it is possible to dismiss Conte on the grounds of just cause but Inter president Steven Zhang wishes to avoid a legal battle with Conte, although this could be used as a card in any negotiations over any future separation.

With his comments yesterday, Conte seemed to want an armistace to be reached with the club and it is understood that what he does in the next three weeks will determine whether or not he remains in charge of the club.

The report from the Rome based news outlet also explains that former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is in the running to potentially replace Conte too.
