Inter manager Antonio Conte has revealed that spirits in the Inter camp are high with thanks to the recent results Inter have achieved after Inter’s latest result, a 2-0 win over Getafe in the last 16 of the Europa League.

A first half strike from Romelu Lukaku and second half strike from substitute Christian Eriksen secured Inter the win against the Spanish side who made it far from easy for Conte’s Nerazzurri side.

“I hoped to find the guys so on track, ready to answer everything because in different phases the match got dirty,” he remarked in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the match at the Arena Auf’Schalke.

“We knew Getafe were a good team and in addition to fighting for every ball and pressing, they have good qualities. We were good at getting dirty and at the same time we created chances.

“We could have scored a few more goals, we would have been more relaxed. Credit to Getafe who deserved to stay here, but also credit to my boys.

“If you did not arrive with the right attitude today you could only lose and make a bad impression, instead today we have withstood the pressure and they must be given credit for that.”

He was then asked whether it was the humility or the quality which the team showed which made the biggest impact in Inter winning the match in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

“I think it’s a mix of all this. From a tactical point of view we were good in both phases when they tried to break us in two. We prepared for the match in a short time, but we have got to a point with the guys that not many days are needed to prepare for the match.”

In conclusion the recently turned 51-year-old former Italian national team boss spoke on how the team will prepare for the quarter finals of the Europa League, where they will face the winner of the match between Rangers and Bayer Leverkusen.

“We will have to be good at recovering physical and mental energy, we come from a fairly important roundup in the league.

“At the same time, there is enthusiasm that we have created with the latest results. There is desire, determination and awareness.

“We will look to do our best without any complaints. For now we have got to the quarters and I don’t know where it will take us again but we will give everything to satisfy our fans. Should we not succeed, we should at least be exhausted.”
