Inter central defender Alessandro Bastoni has sang the praises of Inter manager Antonio Conte for what he has done for him following Inter’s 2-0 win over Getafe in the last 16 of the Europa League.
Thanks to a first half goal from Romelu Lukaku and second half goal from Christian Eriksen, Inter have advanced to the quarter final stage of the competition where they will face the winner of Rangers versus Bayer Leverkusen, which will take place later on today.
“The coach has given me faith in my ability. I came in off the back off a good season with Parma but playing at Inter is another thing,” he explained to the gathered media in the post-match press conference held at the Veltins-Arena after last night’s game.
“It was my first start in Europe but I didn’t feel any pressure, because I have a great group of players and staff behind me.”
The highly rated Italian youth national team midfielder proceeded to discuss what Conte wants to do at Inter: “The coach wants to introduce certain concepts that we need to improve on every day and we are doing it.”
Bastoni concluded the press conference by admitting that he is happy with how things are currently going on the pitch for him and his teammates.
“I’m happy on a personal and team level, we deserve it. We have received a lot of criticism and now we are getting great satisfaction.”
This season 21-year-old has made 30 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and provided a single assist.
