Inter central defender Stefan de Vrij has taken to photo sharing social media platform Instagram to celebrate being named the best defender in Serie A for the 2019/20 season by Serie A.

The Dutch national team player starred for Inter during the league campaign where Inter achieved a second placed finish and finished just a single point off of champions and arch rivals Juventus.

This season the 28-year-old has made 43 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided as many assists for his teammates.

He posted: “Thank you for this award, Serie A! And a big thanks to my teammates, the Coach and all the staff for making this possible.”
