Inter coach Antonio Conte is considering starting Slovakian defender Milan Skriniar against Bayer Leverkusen on Monday in the Europa League, at the expense of Uruguayan veteran Diego Godin, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

The report details how the 25-year-old Slovakian, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has started from the bench in Inter’s last three games, but Conte wants to see if the player can prove himself against the Bundesliga side and so is considering deploying him from the start.

Considering that Italian defender Alessandro Bastoni and Dutch centre back Stefan de Vrij are both considered guaranteed starters, Godin will have to make way for Skriniar, the report continues.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly thinking about giving up on the 25-year-old and sending him to North London to exchange him with Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele, meaning Monday’s game could be vital if he wants to stay with the Milanese club.
