Italian Media Claim Inter Shift Attention To Man Utd’s Chris Smalling Due To High Price Of Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic

Inter are looking at Manchester United owned defender Chris Smalling according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri club have recently shown an interest in signing Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic but La Viola’s high demands for the Serbian international have led to Inter thinking about a move for Smalling, who spent the 2019/20 season on loan at fellow Serie A side Roma.

Inter really like the Englishman who had a super season in the Italian capital city and Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio are now trying to sign him.

Manchester United wanted a total of €25 million, including add-ons, from Roma for Smalling and the good relations between Inter and Manchester United could well help a deal take place.

This season the 30-year-old made 37 appearances across all competitions to date. In just under 3200 minutes on the park, Smalling scored three goals and provided two assists.
