Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that he is optimistic that the club will manage to come to an agreement with defender David Alaba over a contract extension.

Alaba’s current contract with the German champions is due to expire in under one year’s time and as a result he has found himself linked with a host of moves to other clubs including Inter, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

“I am cautiously optimistic about being able to find a solution that can satisfy everyone,” former Inter player Rummenigge explained in an interview with the print edition of German news outlet Kicker.

Alaba has been with the Bavaria based club since 2008 and has made close to 400 appearances across all competitions to date in the time since.

In the 2019/20 season, the 28-year-old, who is primarily a full back but also capable of playing at centre back and in midfield, has made 39 appearances, in which he has scored two goals and provided just as many assists.
