Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is closing in on matching the goal tally that Ronaldo scored in his first season with Inter a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport highlights.

With his goal in last night’s 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League quarter finals, Lukaku has taken his tally to 31 goals across all competitions to date in his debut campaign with the club.

In his debut campaign back in 1997/98, Ronaldo scored 34 goals and Lukaku is now just three goals away from matching him and surpassing the legendary Brazilian is not completely out of the equation either.

Inter have at least one more game to play this season and could play a maximum of one more if they are to win in the Europa League semi final next Monday, where they will face the winner of the match between Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Basel.
