Thanks to their win over Bayer Leverkusen, Inter will be in the third pot for the 2020/21 Champions League group stage draw according to a report from Italian news outlet Calcio e Finanza.

Inter currently have a UEFA coefficient rating of 40.000 and even if they lose in the semi final of the Europa League against Shakhtar Donetsk, they will then go on to match Lazio’s coefficient of 41.000.

If the game is to go to penalties, Inter’s coeffcient will jump up to 42.000 and if they beat their Ukranian opponents it will jump up to 43.000.

The report explains that if Inter lose and therefore have the same coefficient as Lazio, Inter will be ahead due to earning 21.000 coefficient points compared to Lazio’s 4.000 points during the 2019/20 European competitions calendar.

If Inter are to go all the way and win the Europa League, not only would their coefficient further increase but they would also be included in the first pot for the draw rather than the third pot meaning Inter can – in theory – get an easier draw.
