Former Inter defender and football pundit Daniele ‘Lele’ Adani has shared his belief that Inter are superior to their upcoming Europa League opponents Shakhtar Donetsk.

The two sides are set to face off this coming Monday in the Europa League semi finals at the Merkur Spiel-Arena and the winner of the tie will face the winner of the match between Manchester United and Sevilla in the Europa League final on August 21.

“They are a team that plays football, they are similar to Leverkusen but they are a more mature team, they seek to dominate games,” Adani began his analysis of the Ukranian powerhouses whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia yesterday afternoon.

“They have quality and have constantly demonstrated that with many players who have been playing together for some time now.

“Inter are superior in terms of experience, and they are also strong in managing the tempo. They can remove the references to this team, but they have to prove it.”

Inter and Shakhtar Donetsk have only ever met twice previously and those meetings date back to 2005/06. The two clubs met one another in the third qualifying round of the Champions League that season with Inter coming out on top winning 3-1 on aggregate.

Monday night’s encounter between the two clubs will be a one legged tie and it is scheduled to kick off at 21:00 local time.
