Roma will make another attempt to sign Chris Smalling on a permanent basis according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Englishman spent the 2019/20 season on loan at the Italian capital city club and following their recent change in ownership, they will go back in for Smalling and try sign him permanently.

Smalling has also been recently linked with a potential move to Inter who have clearly been left impressed by what they seen from the Manchester United player during his loan spell in Italy.

Reports elsewhere in the media have stated that the Premier League club want a fee in the region of €20 million for Smalling, who has two years left on his current deal at Old Trafford.

During the 2019/20 season, the 30-year-old made 37 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored three goals and provided two assists for his teammates.
