Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge discussed the future of Inter owned forward Ivan Perisic, who impressed in the 8-2 Champions League win over Barcelona yesterday, in an interview with German broadcaster Sky Sports Deutschland earlier today.
“It must be said that he had a good season. He had stable performances, also statistically he provides goals and assists, and the coach counts on him a lot. The thing we liked a lot was seeing him, Philippe Coutinho and Alvaro Odriozola agree to stay at Bayern Munich for less money.”
He touched on whether the Croatian forward will stay at Bayern Munich.
“I don’t know, but I really like him. And so does the coach.”
The Bayern CEO spoke about Inter’s Europa League campaign and how they’ve improved this season.
“I honestly don’t know the Nerazzurri’s situation economically. I saw the team in the Europa League, I really liked the way they played. Inter are already very good now, I don’t know if they need to buy stars to make a good impression with the press or to strengthen the team. It would be perfect to see Bayern Munich win the Champions League and Inter the Europa League.”
Finally, Rummenigge commented on the way that Italian football restarted after the Coronavirus stop, touching on the importance of finishing the season.
“In Germany we were the first to restart because we immediately developed a valid idea, which also came in handy in Italy, England and Spain. We did the best thing in a dark period, it was important to finish the leagues. I wanted the decisions to be made on the pitch, I’m happy that they ended the season like that in Italy too. Congratulations to Juve.”
The 31-year-old Perisic has made 33 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1671 minutes. In that time, he has scored eight goals and provided 10 assists, being an important player for coach Hansi Flick, who is a fan of the Croatian’s tactical flexibility. Inter have no need of Perisic and so are hoping to reach an agreement with the Bavarian club this summer in order to make the player’s stay permanent.
