Inter are looking to strengthen their defense this summer, with the club interested in Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla whilst coach Antonio Conte would prefer the more experienced Chris Smalling, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The report details how the club may look to sell Slovakian defender Milan Skriniar this summer, as the 25-year-old has struggled to adapt to Conte’s tactical system and hasn’t impressed particularly throughout the season.

Veteran Diego Godin has seemingly secured his future at the club after impressing in the season restart. Inter’s executives would like to sign 20-year-old talent Kumbulla this summer, the report continues, and have already reached personal terms with the player.

Conte, on the other hand, would prefer a more experienced option and would prefer to sign 30-year-old Englishman Chris Smalling, who impressed this season on loan with Roma, before returning to Manchester United.
