Inter owned forward Rigoberto Rivas is set to sign a one-season contract extension with the Nerazzurri, tying him to the club until 2023, according to a report from Honduran newspaper Diez earlier today.

The report details how the 22-year-old Honduran attacking midfielder, who has spent this season on loan with Serie C side Reggina, will receive an extra year on his contract after his agent Filippo Pacini helped negotiate a new deal.

The player will spend next season on loan with the Serie C outfit as well, before returning to Inter at the end of June 2021.

Honduras are looking to fight for qualification to the 2022 World Cup, the report continues, and so any playing experience he can gain will be crucial for his nation’s hopes.

The player made 17 appearances across all competitions this season for Reggina, for a total of 926 minutes. In that time, he scored twice and provided four assists.
