Inter captain Samir Handanovic has saved the most penalties in the 21st century, according to a report from FootyRoom as reported by PassioneInter earlier today.

The report details how the 36-year-old Slovenian shot stopper has saved 38 penalties since the 1st January 2000, putting him at the top of the list containing his peers. Bianconeri legend Gianluigi Buffon sits in second place with 30, ahead of Diego Alves who is third with 26.

Bayern Munich hero Manuel Neuer sits at fourth with 25, ahead of Petr Cech, Andrea Consigli and Mikael Landereau, who all have 21, the report continues. The list closes out with Iker Casillas, Benoit Costil and Frank Rost, who all sit at 20.

The Nerazzurri are still looking to start Handanovic next season and are searching carefully for a suitable replacement for the player. The 36-year-old has made 46 appearances so far this season, keeping 15 clean sheets in that time and conceding 45 goals, less than a goal a game.
