Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has failed to score in his three Europa League starts this season and will be hoping for a change in fortune against Shakhtar Donetsk on Monday, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 22-year-old Argentine striker was crucial for the Milanese club in the Champions League earlier this season, scoring five goals in six games, although the club failed to qualify for the knockout rounds of the competition.

Despite this strong start in Europe, his fortunes didn’t carry over to the Europa League, where he has failed to score or provide an assist in 198 minutes in the competition.

Before the Coronavirus stop, Romelu Lukaku had scored 23 goals and Lautaro had scored 17, the report continues, but since the restart the Belgian has scored eight whilst the Argentinian has only scored twice. The number 10 could still finish the season on a high note by guiding the club to a trophy win.
