A report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport has analysed Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella’s impressive debut season with the club.

The report details how the 23-year-old Italian joined from Cagliari last summer and quickly impressed coach Antonio Conte, including scoring a key goal against Slavia Prague in the Champions League in September, helping the club avoid a shock defeat at home.

He scored in all four competitions this season, the only player in Italy to achieve that feat this season. Barella has been a hard worker for Conte and a core part of his midfield, the report continues, with his work rate and flexibility being key for the Lecce born coach.

The player is likely to be a key player for Italy in next summer’s European Championship, being one of many Italian players at Inter. The 23-year-old has scored four goals and provided seven assists in 39 appearances this season.
