Former Arsenal and Inter forward Lukas Podolski discussed the Nerazzurri’s season in Europe and his time with the club in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

“Inter are among the favorites to win the Europa League because they have a good team, many players and the philosophy and style of the coach, who has so much passion, all of which are important. That’s why they’re among the favourites.”

The 35-year-old German then touched on his brief time with the Nerazzurri. Podolski joined the Nerazzurri on a six-month loan from January 2015 to June 2015, where he scored one goal for the club against Udinese in April.

“Of course, I send my regards to the Inter fans. I didn’t spend much time there but I enjoyed it, I met the city and some new friends.

“I have good memories even if it wasn’t an easy time for Inter with the changes to the management. I wish Inter fans good luck. Let’s see who will make it to the final.”

Inter will face Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League semifinals on Monday evening, in one of the most important games of the season for the squad and especially coach Antonio Conte.

The 51-year-old Italian has been under pressure at the club recently after publicly criticizing the club’s management in the media following on from the final game of the season.

The Inter management will meet with Conte at the conclusion of the Europa League campaign to discuss market objectives and his future.
