Inter’s top priority this summer is to sign Barcelona star Lionel Messi, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sportmediaset earlier today.

The report details how the idea of signing the 33-year-old Argentine forward has never disappeared in the mind of the club’s owners, the Suning group, who understand how significant it would be to secure the six-time Ballon d’Or winner. Signing Messi is Inter’s top priority and the club have been closely monitoring the chaos at Barcelona following on from their shock 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League earlier this week.

If Messi is unhappy with the changes at Barcelona, the report continues, then he may look to leave a year before his contract expires. The idea of a discount on his price cannot be excluded if the Blaugrana want to capitalize on his sale, instead of letting the Argentine forward leave on a free transfer next summer.
