A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera analysed the few transfer market moves made by Italian clubs this season, including Inter.

The report begins by detailing how the Nerazzurri managed to quickly secure Real Madrid owned right back Achraf Hakimi earlier in the transfer window, signing the 21-year-old Moroccan after an impressive two seasons on loan with Borussia Dortmund.

The Milanese club splashed the cash for the deal, but have fallen quiet since, instead focusing on the Europa League.

Another factor is the Coronavirus pandemic and the effect it’s had on Italian clubs, the report continues, as no Italian club can afford to spend as much as they would have been able to previously.

This means that valuations need to be dropped or players, like Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa, will not move to big clubs this summer. The idea of another lockdown is also a genuine fear in Italy and some don’t want to risk investing heavily before another potential season stop.
