Anything can happen when it comes to Lionel Messi’s footballing future according to a report in today’s print edition of Argentine newspaper Olé.

Messi’s contract with Barcelona is due to expire at the end of the upcoming season and his future is right up in the air as a result.

The results on the field this season coupled with the uncertainty at corporate level at the club has Messi worried and lacking the serenity that he would like.

Due to his expiring contract status, Messi will be able to negotiate with any club of his choosing from January 1 on a pre-contract basis, unless he signs a contract extension before then.

Inter have always wanted Messi, who has followed in his father’s footsteps and bought property in the city of Milan lately.

Messi has a €700 million release clause in his current contract but the report goes on to state that due to the COVID-19 crisis his transfer value is somewhere between €112-130 milllion – a figure not out of reach for many clubs who could generate huge profits by bringing Messi to their club.

The report goes on to conclude that Messi is currently evaluating the goings on at Barcelona.
