Inter Wing-Back Danilo D’Ambrosio: “Deserved Win For The Group, Thanks To The Club For Letting Me Stay”

Inter wing-back Danilo D’Ambrosio has spoken on what the biggest strength of this Inter side is off the back of their emphatic 5-0 triumph over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League semi finals.

Inter took the lead via Lautaro Martinez and D’Ambrosio doubled the Nerazzurri’s lead against the Ukrainian side. Lautaro scored Inter’s third goal of the game and the fourth and fifth goals came from Romelu Lukaku who netted his 32nd and 33rd goals of the season across all competitions to date.

“It is a deserved win for the group. Not only for the eleven who played, but for everyone,” the Italian explained in an interview with Italian boadcaster Sky Sport Italia, a short while after the full time whistle at the Merkur Spiel-Arena.

“It’s everyone’s willingness, everyone is fighting for the same goal and this is also important for the coach who sees a motivated group. We have strong players up front, but the strength of this Inter is the group that gets the best out of individuals who then get the results.”

D’Ambrosio was then asked how it feels to have got his starting berth back and proceeded to thank Inter manager Antonio Conte and his teammates for their assistance.

“It makes me proud that every year they tell me it’s my best season. The daily work can be seen. Thanks to the club who allowed me to stay, the coach who gave me confidence and my teammates who allow me to be at 100%.”

In conclusion he sang the praises of Conte who he states has placed Inter in a position to do well this season.

“We have a coach who teaches football. We are good at interpreting what he tells us. He puts us in a position to give our best and to have clear ideas.”
