Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani discussed Inter’s Europa League semi-finals clash against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

“Strong opponent, but I think Inter are superior. They have a clear identity and a forward who is strong up front. I think Inter have the advantage, Shakhtar are Leverkusen with more quality, they are much tougher.

“It has to be said that they have a goalkeeper who could concede 12 goals if Inter took 12 shots.”

Antonio Conte’s Inter are in the semi-finals of a European competition for the first time since the 2009/10 season, the year that they won the Treble under coach Jose Mourinho.

The Nerazzurri and the coach are hoping for a decisive win tonight to setup an exciting final against either Manchester United or Sevilla, as Conte is looking to win a trophy in his first season in charge of the Milanese club. He will meet with the club’s management at the end of this campaign in order to discuss market objectives and his future.

The only previous meeting between Inter and Shakhtar was in the 2005/06 Champions League qualifiers, where the Nerazzurri left 3-1 winners over two legs. The Ukrainian side are looking to reach their second ever European finals and so will be approaching the game positively.
