It is now possible for Lionel Messi to leave Barcelona according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Manchester City, Inter and Paris Saint-Germain are all potential suitors for the multi-time world player of the year who has spent his entire career with the Blaugrana club.
Messi and his father recently bought property in the city of Milan due to the tax benefits of residing in Italy and although Manchester City have more money, there is not the same sort of tax relief available to them in England.
The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to state that the Argentine national team player could leave the club for nothing come the end of next season when his contract expires, but by then current president Josep Maria Bartomeu, will be away with him unlikely to be re-elected.
Messi could also leave the club now but he does have a €700 million release clause in his contract and if Bartomeu is to be known as the man who let Messi leave, he will try to get as much money as possible for him.
