Inter central midfielder Roberto Gagliardini has thanked Inter manager Antonio Conte for the trust he has recently shown in him after Inter’s resounding 5-0 triumph over Shakhtar Donetsk in the semi final of the Europa League on Monday night.

Lautaro Martinez opened the Nerazzurri’s scoring with a header during the first half and Inter would then score four goals in the second half. Danilo D’Ambrosio scored next and then Lautaro grabbed another before Romelu Lukaku netted Inter’s fourth and fifth to take his goal tally for the season to a highly impressive 33 goals.

“I’ve been playing consistently for a few months now. I thank the coach for his trust in me,” the Italian national team player explained to the gathered media at a press conference at the Merkur Spiel-Arena following the match.

The former Atalanta player added: “This was a very intelligent match from the team, now we need to take the last step for a final that we hope is as rosy as possible.”

This season the 26-year-old, who is contracted to Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date and in his time on the park he has scored four goals and provided three assists for his teammates.
