Following Inter’s 5-0 Europa League semi final win over Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has stressed that he and his Inter teammates want to win the Europa League regardless of the strength of Sevilla, who they will face in the Europa League final.

Lukaku scored Inter’s fourth and fifth goals in their rout of the Ukrainian Premier League champions with Lukaku’s striker partner Lautaro Martinez also grabbing a brace whilst the other goal came from wing-back Danilo D’Ambrosio.

“We are still fighting for the trophy, there is one game left but we want to win. We know that Sevilla are a great team, we need to recover and then we will prepare as best we can for the match in Cologne,” the Belgian national team player told Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following the match at the Merkur Spiel-Arena.

Lukaku was then asked if he felt sorry for former employers Manchester United, who failed to reach the final as they lost to Sevilla on Sunday night.

“Am I sorry that Manchester United are not in the final? Well, no. Solskjaer did very well, they did everything. Many players have grown up this year, I’m happy for them and I hope they have a good season next year.”

This season the 27-year-old, who is coming to the end of his debut campaign with Inter, has scored a sensational 33 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions to date.
